What an amazing find! Greeted warmly and rested right away. Our waitress, Kenzie, was great. Getting our orders in and back to us correctly, then made sure we always had everything we needed. And the food.....the queso was the best we have had. And the baked oysters were so good. Highly recommend a visit here. The owner, Rodney was bringing out food and then bussing tables. A real hands on owner and we told him we appreciated his hard work and made sure he knew we loved his restaurant and staff.

Our ladies’ luncheon at Ragtime Café in Hoover was a wonderful experience! Everyone at the table ordered something different, and every dish that arrived looked amazing and earned rave reviews.
My mother enjoyed the burger and fries, while I ordered the wedge salad with a side of onion rings. Let me just say—the hand-battered onion rings were absolutely unforgettable. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, they may be some of the best I’ve ever had. The wedge salad was equally impressive—so fresh and delicious that I actually dreamed about it last night!
Others in our group ordered the steak salad and the Oriental salad, and both received glowing reviews as well. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared across the board.
If you’re looking for a great lunch spot with excellent food and a welcoming atmosphere, Ragtime Café is definitely worth a visit. I’ve been coming here for years… Well, since it first opened! It must be 30+ or 40+ years old! We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back! It’s worth a visit for sure.

Casual dining with high quality food in large portions (bring your appetite)! Every one of the staff treats you like you are the only person there. They're packed, so come early or place a to go order. Francisco was our server & came to check on us multiple times. My husband had the blackened grouper & I had the Ragtime crab cakes. We were both pleased with our choices. I have never had such dense, moist, crunchy & flavorful crab cakes anywhere. I have tasted them all over the East & West coast as well as the Caribbean.

This is a great find. The food was great. We had Blue Crab Claws, baked Oysters and a wedge salad with awesome blue cheese dressing. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were great. Everyone was super friendly. Thanks for a great night.

I'm not from Hoover, but every time I visit, I eat here at least twice during my weekly stays. The food is ALWAYS good and the service is great. They have a wide variety of choices in addition to a weekly specials menu. If you plan on eating here for dinner, then get there early. Ragtime is always packed for dinner. Hands down on my top 10 places to eat! I love this place ❤️
