Absolute corporate negligence and an illegal equipment mismatch. Do not trust this company. I paid Service Experts $12,247 in CASH for what was supposed to be a complete, brand-new matching HVAC system replacement under a 1-year labor warranty. Instead, they left me with a broken system that has suffered SEVERAL high-pressure safety shutdowns, leaving my house at 78 degrees in the peak Alabama summer heat. After dealing with 7 useless service visits where they hid my paperwork and continuously charged me breakdown fees, I audited the equipment myself. I discovered a massive, unacceptable code violation: They installed a brand-new next-generation outdoor heat pump (Lennox Merit ML14KP1) engineered exclusively to run on new R-454B refrigerant. They paired it with a legacy, completely mismatched indoor evaporator coil (Model CK40HT) explicitly stamped with a factory tag that reads: "Suitable for R-410A."They shoved next-gen refrigerant into an obsolete R-410A system using my old, un-flushed copper lineset. This mismatched chemical cocktail creates a physical restriction, backing up extreme pressure and destroying the compressor. To make matters worse, a technician came out today, saw large holes in the ductwork they damaged on a previous visit, and just slapped tape over it. He then admitted he didn’t have the proper diagnostic tools to check for a leak, blindly injected random "freon" into a contaminated loop against all safety codes, and slammed me with an $89 fee on the spot. They take your cash, cut dangerous installation corners, refuse to provide service tickets, and repeatedly charge you for diagnostics on their own defective workmanship. I have escalated this fraudulent mismatch directly to Service Experts Corporate headquarters and filing a formal licensing complaint with the Alabama HACR State Board. Avoid Service Experts Birmingham at all costs.

We replaced both of our AC & heating units (upstairs and downstairs, inside and outside) and added whole house filters to both units in July 2020. I got three estimates from local contractors and found that Freedom had not only the best price but also the best maintenance plan. They've been servicing our units twice yearly since then. There were a few minor glitches along the way, but everything has been taken care of to our satisfaction with no problem. Their most recent visit was in June 2025. Their tech, Caleb, found a few issues, but cleaned and serviced all the units as part of Freedom's maintenance plan and we're ready for the summer! We would highly recommend both Freedom Heating and Cooling and their tech Caleb. 👍

Matthew and his partner did a thorough inspection of our upstairs and downstairs A/C and heating systems today. Both were very courteous and answered all my questions. They worked quickly and inspected both the inside units and the outside units and cleaned them where necessary. We recommend Matthew and Freedom Heating and Cooling. 👍

I had a bed link in behind my wall whereas I had to call on Service Experts. The plumber that came to my house was Colton Abts. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He fixed my link in a timely fashion and cleaned up his work site immediately. If he was an employee of mine I would have to give him a raise. That’s just how mannerable and professional he was.

My plumbing backed up. I didn’t have a plumber and found Service Experts by chance and I was very happy with my choice. Stephen fixed my plumbing problem in a short time. He was very knowledgeable and kept me informed about what he was doing. I’m totally happy with the results and the price.

I have had two experiences with this company (First time was when it was formally called freedom air)that left me with no confidence in their recommendations. In 2021, I purchased a new HVAC system from them Later, when my other unit stopped working, they diagnosed it and recommended replacing the entire system for about $12,000 As the repair for it would’ve ran $6000. Before moving forward, a friend suggested checking the capacitor. We replaced it for $15and the unit immediately started working. Three years later, it’s still running with no additional repairs. Based on that experience, I was left questioning whether replacement was ever necessary Or they were just incompetent. More recently, the system I purchased from this company stopped working while still under warranty. They informed me the drain was clogged And the repair was approximately $500 that would take about an hour of labor. understand the warranty didn’t cover labor, but who gets $500 an hour for a call. I was charged the $85 service fee. I used a wet dry vacuum to clear the line and the system immediately returned to normal operation Which took only about five minutes. I Would avoid any service or purchasing of any systems from them.
