First time eating here my chicken fingers were good but my wife said her chicken salad was great and the blueberries bread pudding was really good. The old dowdle gas & pub has a great atmosphere and everyone was really nice and friendly and they have outdoor seating that was great because we had our pet 🐕 with us. A good place where the locals go.

Flavor on Full Throttle I’m not sure where the name came from, but the flavor? They’ve got that figured out. This place has a small-town charm that makes you feel like the regulars have been coming here since forever, and they just might invite you to stay. It’s tucked off the interstate just enough to make it feel like a secret worth finding. Service was lightning-fast and the food came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. My buddy ordered the patty melt, and I didn’t hear much from him after that except the occasional satisfied grunt between bites. Always a good sign. I went with the BLT and had my doubts when it came on rye instead of white. But the first bite made me a believer. The chef clearly knows what they’re doing because it worked perfectly. The Old Bay chips are delicious with just enough spice to keep things interesting. A little ranch on the side takes them to the next level. If you’re cruising down the highway and looking for good food made by good people, this is your stop. Quick service, friendly faces, and food that tastes like it was cooked with care. You won’t leave hungry, and you might just start planning your next road trip around coming back here.

The fried corn on the cob appetizer is a whole new experience with corn on the cob. It’s busting at the seams with flavor and a little heat, served up with ranch dipping sauce. The onion rings and homemade honey mustard dipping sauce was good. I had the Philly Cheesecake, made with real thinly sliced steak. Pretty tasty for sure. Wife had the brisket chili, it was packed full of flavor and a little heat. The brisket was flavorful and tender. Very good!! To finish off a good was the “star of the show” it’s not listed as a menu item but definitely order it! I know the suspense is running high, it is a blueberry bread pudding with a blueberry/raspberry drizzle and a small dab of whip topping. I assure you, it’s a major highlight to a good meal! If you have never had bread pudding or the one and only time you ever tried bread pudding and didn’t like it, give this one a try. You will thank me later!!

So it was good but just good, to me. Make sure to order your burgers well if you dont want pink in the middle. Didnt think I would have to specify on the kids cheesburger but it came out medium (pink in middle). Fried corn on the cob was good but it was absolutely caked in old bay. I like old bay but it was so overseasoned it's all you could taste. Also felt it was a little overpriced at $10 for 6 little rounds of corn. The Philly looked amazing but it wasn't like a regular Philly, the meat was thin sliced beef not the normal shaved, paper thin sirloin. It also was chewy and tasted like round steak. That was really my only complaints about the food. Price seemed expensive for what it was ($53 for 2 adults and a kid and we had 2 waters and 1 soda to drink) but I might have felt different if the Philly was the way I like it. Service was great and fast. Seemed like a good place to have a couple of beers but not sure if I would eat there again.

The Old Dowdle Gas Company is a hidden gem you need to check out. The building has so much character. They have a massive beer selection, so there’s something for everyone. The food is made fresh and it shows. The wings are huge, loaded with meat, and absolutely delicious. The fries were amazing too. Everything we ordered hit the spot. The staff were friendly and on top of it the entire time, and you can tell the owner, Chris, has built a great team. He even came out to chat, which was a nice personal touch. If you’re in the area, stop in. You won’t regret it. Will definitely be back soon.
